Importing Products & Categories From the Web2ink Catalog

Last updated

Web2ink maintains a shared, remote product and category catalog — thousands of blank apparel, sign, and promotional product styles — that you can pull into your own WooCommerce store rather than building every product from scratch.

Why use the catalog instead of building products manually

The remote catalog already has base product data, images, and category structure maintained centrally. Importing from it means:

  • New products can be added to your site in bulk instead of one at a time.
  • Category structure (and taxonomy like color, size, vendor, and brand) comes in consistently.
  • When the catalog is updated upstream (new styles, corrected data), your imported products can be refreshed rather than manually re-entered.

How to import

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to the Web2ink import screen (listed under the Web2ink admin menu).
  2. Browse or search the remote catalog by category, vendor, or keyword.
  3. Select the products/categories you want and run the import. Imported items become real WooCommerce products in your store — you can edit pricing, descriptions, and images afterward just like any WooCommerce product.
  4. Repeat any time you want to add more of the catalog — importing is not a one-time, all-or-nothing action.

DIY Plans start with roughly 1,000 products preloaded, so you may already have a large base catalog to edit rather than import from scratch — check your existing product list before re-importing categories you likely already have.

After importing: what to configure next

An imported product isn't fully store-ready until you've set:

  • Whether the designer is enabled for it, and which sides/processes apply (see Setting Up Print Processes, Colors & Design Charges)
  • Pricing — price chart, pricing method, and quantity minimums (see How Web2ink Calculates a Price, Step by Step)
  • Store visibility, if you're running Custom Stores and want to control which products appear in which store

Keeping products up to date

If the platform runs a price or product update, changes flow through a review step rather than silently overwriting your customized pricing — this protects any manual pricing adjustments you've made. If you notice a product's data looks out of date, check the Web2ink admin's update/import screen for a pending sync, or contact support if something looks stuck.

Common issues

  • Imported category isn't showing on the storefront — new categories sometimes need their sort order set before they'll display; check the category settings if it's missing from navigation.
  • Product imported but designer/pricing looks wrong — importing brings in the base product; pricing and designer settings still need to be configured per product as described above.
